Dr. Peter Meuser, Ph.D., R. Psych. and Associates Inc.
I have been a Registered Clinical Psychologist with the BC Psychological Association (BCPA), College of Psychologists of BC (CPBC), Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), and Canadian Registered Health Services Provider (CRHSP), licensed consecutively since 1979 (CPBC #489). Our Agency operates in the BC Northwest, Haida Gwaii, Vancouver Island, Sidney/Victoria and the Yukon (Whitehorse).
Having delivered Psychological/Legal Assessments throughout BC and the Yukon for over 40 continuous years, our dedicated and expanding team consists entirely of PhD. level, Registered Clinical and/or Forensic Psychologists.
My specialized, professional training is decidedly Clinical/Forensic, including nearly a decade as an Auxiliary RCMP Constable with extensive training. Then, Auxiliary Officers wore identical uniforms to regular officers, carried an RCMP badge and were fully trained and licensed to carry a police firearm. As well, I served as a Certified RCMP Health Service Provider for well over 30 years and am widely respected professionally throughout RCMP “E” and “M” Divisions (BC & Yukon). Police work served to finely hone my clinical, investigative, and interview skills in preparation for conducting complex Psychological/Legal Assessments, and succinctly presenting “Expert Witness” courtroom testimony under oath.
I have also worked tirelessly in a professional capacity for 40+ years with First Nation individuals and communities in the BC Northwest, Haida Gwaii, and the Yukon. We continue to hold contracts with First Nation communities and groups in the BC Northwest, most notably the federally-funded Gitxsan First Nation Residential Treatment Centre (“Wilp Si’Satxw” – House of Purification & Healing), based in Kitwanga, BC. As their senior Clinical Consultant and only non-indigenous team-member since 1993, I travel to the Centre once or twice monthly. I am deeply proud of the honorary Gitxsan name of “Nox Nox Umshewa” (“White Spiritual Healer”) which I was given in a formal Ceremony in 1999.
